Humble Beginnings for a blog.

Good afternoon folks, as they say about most forms of literature; the beginning can sometimes be the hardest part to conjure-up. However, on the flip side, it also marks the beginning of a whole range of potential subjects to get my teeth back into!

I suppose you may want to know a little relating to why I wanted to create a blog. From a personal view-point, having graduated what feels like an eternity ago now (mild exaggeration), I guess the aspect missed most is being given the privileged opportunity to compose structured, professional literature. I surprise myself when I say this, given that undergraduate dissertations & essays can quickly become a student's worst nightmare. The often counter-productive combination of late-nights, pro-plus and excessive alcohol breaks remain vivid in the mind's eye! However, as I casually lounge in the living room; brew in-hand; accompanied by a Spotify playlist even Radio 2 would respect, the backdrop is a far more relaxed one (and a sign that I have aged!). An outlet allowing the stream of conscience to go wherever it pleases!

So, that leads onto the question of: why write a blog? Will people acknowledge it and will they even agree with its content? Well the latter point hits the proverbial nail on the head; opinion! Opinions, believe it or not, are just one aspect that make this ever-so complicated world continue to spin. Tune into a broadcast at the House of Commons and you will see the Political heavyweights going head-to-head; Read the front-page of any tabloid newspaper; Even scroll down your Facebook newsfeed and you're bound to disagree with something you view. It's alternative, fresh, different. Therein lies the beauty.

In a technological-driven society, with a penchant for instant-communication and up-to-the-minute breaking news, there is no better time than right now to publish your views. Allow for the initial rustiness to rid itself and I would like to think a long-lost passion for writing could be unearthed. Drawing upon the vast assortment of subjects on offer, I'm sure I will create a literary feast for anybody who is willing to read. Watch this space <------------>
